Though I don't know her or her family, a 15 year old girl by the name of Jane Creba was shot and killed on boxing day (Dec 26, 2005) by a stray bullet in a gang fight while her and her family were shopping. I think it was the senseless slaying of someone so young & innocent that really inspired me to create this piece. This picture is dedicated to Jane Creba and her family who I read about in a local paper. The following quote is what was the direct inspiration for this picture.
"Our bright light tragically scattered into darkness on Boxing Day 2005. Her life has been transformed into a shooting star that will forever be a light for her devote parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends"
I would like to send them a print of this but I'm not sure that would be appropriate or even how to get it to them. It's very sad when someone dies so young. I'm not really sure why this particular story has stuck with me so strongly but it saddens me.
